Before the arrival of the Spanish, so called " peoples of the land " had established themselves in different places of the current province of Mendoza. The conquerors tried to establish each other near the places where there were indigenous settlers. The Spanish were interested for controlling culturally the aborigens. For it they installed a chapel near Huanacache's Lagoons. The cultural conquest went associated with the economic activity. Rapidly the way was consolidated from Mendoza up to Huanacache.. Also they established themselves near the river Tunuyán, to the east of Mendoza, to indoctrinate the Indians who were living there. This pole of evangelización evolved up to culminating in the foundation of Corocorto's San Jose, current department of La Paz, towards ends(purposes) of the XVIIIth century. Later, already in the full XIXth century, new population poles would arise close to the river Tunuyán, from The Ramada eastward. The current villas of Santa Rosa, The Night's sleep and The Catitas were places for the rest of the travelers, the shepherding of the cattle and new advanced for the process of occupation of the territory. More eastward, the consolidation of the Royal(Real) Way came to reinforce the paper(role) of Corocorto's San Jose.
